2023 HALL Ellie's Cabernet Sauvignon
2023 HALL Ellie's Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2023 Ellie's offers initial aromas of mineral and violet that fully open into a perfume of marionberry, grilled herbs and earth. The polished texture of the mid-palate palate echoes the minerality on the nose with layers of fresh and supple tannins that lead to a graceful, vivid finish. This is a truly elegant expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine is named for Craig Hall's mother, Eleanor “Ellie” Hall, who was an artist and a teacher. She inspired Craig’s love of art and it is her artwork that graces this wine’s label. Crafting this blend is an exercise in texture. Vineyard sources are selected for their elegance with tannins that are soft, lush, and opulent. The palate is driven by minerality, cassis, and a floral perfume.

| Vintage Notes | Ample winter rain, followed by temperate and dry conditions through March gave us a good start to the vintage. The spring and summer months were consistent and warm, resulting in small but healthy canopies and balanced vines. Labor Day came with a curveball from Mother Nature in the form of a prolonged heat wave that accelerated harvest at many of our vineyard sites, followed immediately by much cooler weather and a bit of rain. This refreshing slow-down allowed the remaining grapes to hang a bit longer, yielding beautifully balanced fruit and polished tannin. Overall the 2022 vintage is fresh with pure, concentrated flavors. |
